Glastonbury Tor
Glastonbury

Welcome to Glastonbury, a small market town in Somerset
(Land of the Summer People), a land that I love.

A land that abounds with myths and legends that are as elusive as the mists of Avalon that shroud the Somerset Levels, an area of wetlands where rush,
reed and peat can be found.

Steeped in history of King Arthur and his second wife Guinevere, of King Alfred who burnt the cakes and would be king James, Duke of Monmouth who was defeated at
The Battle of Sedgemoor.

Glastonbury is the seat of Christianity, with the first wattle and daub church built on the site of the Lady Chapel in Glastonbury Abbey by Joseph of Arimathea and his followers, including Mary Magdalene. Today there is a tolerance of all belief systems or none.

Discover beautiful architecture and ancient buildings with the alms houses dating back to the 12th century. The pure waters of the Red and White Springs at Challis Well still run today as freely as in the 17th century when pilgrims came to Glastonbury to bathe in and drink the healing waters.
